Self-Diagnosis Before You Call

A few minutes of checking can save you a service call — here's what's safe to look at yourself, and what to leave to a technician.

Call (213) 695-7277

Safe to Check Yourself

Temperature and mode settings — especially after a power outage, which sometimes resets them
Door and drawer seals for visible gaps, tears, or debris
Condenser coil airflow — dust buildup behind the base grille
Water supply valves for ice makers and dispensers
Breaker panel for a tripped breaker
Any error code or alarm shown on the display

Leave to a Technician

Sealed refrigeration systems, gas line and igniter components, and anything involving high-voltage electronics (like a microwave's capacitor) aren't safe or practical DIY repairs. Attempting them yourself risks injury and can turn a straightforward repair into a much larger one.
